Governor Manuel N. Mamba believes that preparation is the key in disasters and calamities. He wants that every Cagayano is prepared when these occurrences strike, so that safety and protection are ensured and lives are saved. The onslaught of super typhoon Lawin last October 2016, was a tragedy that left us with billions of damages in agriculture, infrastructure and livelihood of many Cagayanos. This experience left us with many lessons and realizations, including the need for preparation and the skills to build back better after the calamity. Thus, the Governor spearheaded the first Climate Change Summit in the province to bring all agencies, stakeholders, partners and networks together to set goals on disaster preparedness and to push for a holistic approach in building back better after calamities. With the mandate of the Provincial Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, the Governor aims for a ready and prepared province, equipped with the appropriate resources, skills and knowledge on disasters.
